The Nature of Market Volatility

Markets cycle between periods of high volatility (trend) and low volatility (consolidation). Think of the market like a coiled spring: the longer it stays compressed in a tight range, the more explosive the breakout will be when the energy is finally released.

Understanding the "Squeeze"

A "Squeeze" occurs when volatility drops to historically low levels. We can measure this objectively using two popular indicators:

• Bollinger Bands: Measure standard deviation (volatility). They expand when volatility is high and contract when it's low.
• Keltner Channels: Measure Average True Range (ATR). They are generally smoother than Bollinger Bands.

The Squeeze Condition: When the Bollinger Bands contract so much that they go entirely inside the Keltner Channels, the market is in a squeeze. It is building up energy for the next major move.

How to Trade the Breakout

1. Wait for the Squeeze: Identify a coin where Bollinger Bands are inside Keltner Channels.
2. Wait for the Trigger (Breakout): Wait for the price to break outside of the upper or lower Bollinger Band.
3. Confirm with Volume: A true institutional breakout must have volume. Check if the breakout candle's volume is significantly higher than its 20-period moving average.
